Sometimes, the path you're on changes unexpectedly, even when you've invested deeply in your work. Yesterday, I learned that a valued client has decided to shift their funding strategies due to changes influenced by the new Trump administration. I can't say I'm surprised given the current political climate. As a result, they no longer require my grant-writing services.
While I respect their decision and understand that new administrations can bring new priorities, it's challenging to see a partnership I truly valued come to an end. Grant writing is meaningful and personal work; I approach each project with dedication and genuine belief in the organization's mission, hoping my efforts help create positive change in the communities they serve.
Navigating change gracefully can be difficult, especially when decisions stem from shifts in political or administrative landscapes beyond one's control. This experience is reminding me of the importance of professionalism and adaptability, even when it's personally tough. New leadership, and the policies they enact, often bring significant shifts. While I may not always agree with these changes, maintaining grace and professionalism is essential.
I'm literally grieving this loss; however, past experience has taught me that usually when one door closes, another opens. To everyone experiencing similar shifts in their professional lives—you're not alone. Let's continue to adapt, grow, and support each other with grace and resilience.
With a grateful heart,
Theresa Avila Bimbela
